On 4 March 2021 former Constitutional Court Judge and current Inspecting Judge of Prisons, Justice Edwin Cameron delivered a Keynote Address to AdJASA members on the topic “Prisons – A call to action for post-apartheid administrative lawyers”. He asks: how do we practically, efficiently and meaningfully give effect to the constitutional aspirations of humane and dignified treatment and conditions for prisoners, and how do we do so despite rightful anxiety about rampant crime in South Africa? The address is an invitation and a plea to administrative lawyers, public interest lawyers and academics to get involved with this important work. We implore our members to take up this challenge.
